About Us

Guide Educational and Charitable Trust

Our initiatives empower socially backward women, youth, and special children, creating self-sufficiency and equality across Tenkasi and Tirunelveli district.

Founded in 2008 by a team of committed social activists, Guide Educational and Charitable Trust focuses on empowering rural women, youth, and special children. With strong support from partners like NABARD and NGOs, we’ve delivered skill training, education, and health programs in underserved communities. Our efforts span from Tenkasi to Chennai’s outskirts, bridging gaps in digital literacy, financial inclusion, and women-led entrepreneurship. The Trust now functions from its administrative base in Maraimalainagar, continuing its legacy of service in both rural and semi-urban regions.

Cyclone Gaja Relief & Rehabilitation

After Cyclone Gaja, we visited affected slums in Chennai and provided essential aid. Our team conducted medical counselling sessions and distributed health supplies. We followed up by offering skill-based training like sanitary napkin making and candle production. These programs were aimed at helping women regain self-reliance post-disaster. The initiative was sponsored by DRDA and JoSAC. It restored hope and built resilience in cyclone-hit communities.

Digital Literacy Drive

We trained over 450 students under NDLM between April and July 2016, introducing them to basic computer skills. The PMGDISHA scheme helped rural youth adapt to modern digital needs. Programs were conducted in Tenkasi and Maraimalainagar. Local schools and colleges were active participants. We provided certified courses to make learning accessible. The result was improved digital fluency in remote areas.

COVID-19 Response and Mask Production

When the pandemic hit, our team quickly pivoted to manufacture and distribute 3-layered cloth masks. We supplied them free to migrant workers and rural poor. Despite lockdown constraints, available tailors volunteered their time. This initiative not only met urgent health needs but created livelihood for local women. Our work was well-received by both the public and local authorities. It proved the power of responsive grassroots action.

Participation in Gramasabha Meeting at Karunilam Panchayat

We participated in the Gramasabha meeting held at Karunilam Panchayat, engaging actively with the local community. Special focus was given to counseling women on various aspects of empowerment and well-being. We highlighted the importance of education, skill development, and participation in decision-making processes. Discussions were held on health awareness, especially maternal care and nutrition. Women were encouraged to join and lead self-help groups for financial stability. The session saw active participation, with many women showing enthusiasm to contribute to the village’s development.

Health Camp Conducted at PHC, Maraimalainagar

In one of our health camps conducted at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Maraimalainagar, we provided essential medical services to the local community. The camp focused on general health check-ups, screening for non-communicable diseases, and maternal and child health services. Special attention was given to raising awareness about personal hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare. A large number of women and elderly individuals availed the services and received counseling from medical professionals. Medicines were distributed free of cost to those in need. The camp was well-received and helped strengthen trust between the community and the healthcare system.

During the training session, Sri. K. Ramalingam, District Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD, interacted warmly with the trainees, encouraging them to make the best use of the opportunities provided. He emphasized the importance of skill development in enhancing livelihood opportunities, especially in rural areas. He shared valuable insights on various NABARD-supported schemes and how trainees could benefit from them. Sri. Ramalingam also addressed their queries, motivating them to take proactive steps towards self-employment and entrepreneurship. His interaction was highly engaging and inspired the trainees to stay committed to their learning journey.
